Let’s discuss the greatness of Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo and De’Aaron Fox while addressing yet another Lakers blunder. It’s your Friday BBNBA recap:

Adebayo & Herro boost Heat past Brooklyn

Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro are two of the NBA’s top-30 scorers since the start of February. Each average 22 points a game over this recent stretch as their Miami Heat tightened their hold on the East’s No. 1 seed. The matchup with the Brooklyn Nets in the Barclays Center was just another day in the office.

Kevin Durant just re-entered the lineup for the Nets while Miami sat Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler for yesterday’s game. Recipe for a loss, right? Not if Adebayo and Herro have anything to say about it. With their veteran teammates out, the Kentucky boys stepped up. Bam poured in 30 points to lead the Heat and made 12-15 shots while also dishing out six assists. Unreal offensive production from a center.

I mentioned he’s top-30 in the NBA in scoring since Feb. 1, but he’s also putting the ball in the hoop with better shooting percentages than every other top scorer aside from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Anthony Davis. Pretty darn good company, if I do say so.

Tyler Herro again was a massive spark off the bench. The Bucket took 19 shots and scored 27 points while running the point guard position with eight assists. Man, it must be nice to have two primary ball handlers on the bench (Lowry and Butler) and still have two other dudes capable of running a great offense through Herro and Adebayo.

Miami is 2.5 games up on Philadelphia for the one-seed after last night. Going to be a fun last few weeks of the season with Maxey and the Sixers chasing Herro, Bam and the Heat at the top of the East.

Kings finally win!

It’s about time I get to write about a Kings victory. Sacramento went on the road and defeated the San Antonio Spurs, who sits directly in front of them in the West standings. De’Aaron Fox was terrific again, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Seems like a typical stat line for him lately.

Perhaps that’s because Fox has now scored 20 or more points in 11 straight games. Going back to the numbers I used for Herro and Bam since Feb. 1, De’Aaron Fox is 14th in the NBA over that span at 26.7 points a game on slightly over 50% shooting from the field. For point guards taking as many shots as Fox, 50% is a more than serviceable field goal rate.

Lakers swept by Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers blew out the Lakers for the second time in as many weeks and swept the season series between the Hollywood rivals. In these last two games, the Clippers didn’t have Kawhi Leonard OR Paul George. How is this Lakers team so bad? You can’t pin it all on LeBron James — the dude is averaging nearly 29 points a game. Forget the Lakers’ problems for a minute, LBJ is still playing like one of the best players in the world at 37 years old. This season isn’t exactly a good use of his talents!

Part of the problem is the continued absence of Anthony Davis, who is sidelined with another lower leg injury at the moment. Elsewhere, clearly this supporting cast isn’t good enough to get the job done. Aside from Malik Monk of course, who is scoring 12.7 points a game and shooting 39.4% from three. Really solid production from him.
