BBNBA: Bam and Herro power Miami to a 4-1 start
Just another night of former ‘Cats leading their teams to victory. Let’s dive in.
Bam and Tyler lead Miami over the Hornets
Miami is making a sneaky bid for the best team in the Eastern Conference this season. The East still runs through Milwaukee and you have to beat Giannis while he consistently dunks on your face. Still though, the top six or seven of the Heat rotation are legit impact players. The lack of depth may come to hurt them later in the season, but that didn’t seem to matter Friday Night in their 114-109 win over the Hornets.
Tyler Herro took that offseason slander to heart. Everyone got mad that the Heat didn’t trade him for James Harden, and now he’s playing better than that foul poacher. I say that only half-seriously. Herro played another fantastic game off the bench in the win, dropping 26 points, five rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes. Crazy efficient from the floor, Tyler was 9-13 in the game, 4-6 from deep and perfect in a couple of trips to the line.
A starting frontcourt of Miles Bridges and Mason Plumlee probably isn’t the best matchup against Bam. The DPOY candidate went off for 26 points and 19 rebounds in the win. Not to mention he’s locking down players left-and-right. A healthy and dominant Bam might be the ultimate key for Miami if they want to make a serious run at the East once again. The Heat know that well enough, deciding to throw a banner up in the rafters for Bam while the dude is still on the court.
De’Aaron Fox paces Kings against the Pelicans
Are the Sacramento Kings a good basketball team? We’ll wait a little longer before asking such ridiculous questions like that, but they are 3-2 now. Partially behind the play of De’Aaron Fox, who had arguably his best game of the young season so far.
Fox ended the night with 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists on 9-21 shooting. We’ll try to ignore his 1-7 performance from three and his overall 16.1% clip from deep on the season due to it being a new year. These slumps can happen to start a season. I wouldn’t be worried about it at all, he can still do things like this.

Fox has been well on his way to becoming an All-Star player for most of his career. If the Kings can become somewhat competent, maybe that can finally become a reality.
Anthony Davis, Lakers outlast Cleveland
It wasn’t the prettiest of nights for our ‘Cats in L.A., but they got the win. Anthony Davis didn’t necessarily have an off night, but he didn’t stuff the stat sheet as we’re accustomed to seeing from him. The big man only had 15 points but it came on a 7-14 mark from the field. Malik Monk only played five minutes and Rajon Rondo got another DNP from Frank Vogel.
I want to point out, Evan Mobley is making quite the case for the best rookie in this class. Cade Cunningham and Jalen Green are awesome and are going to be absolutely nuts in this league, but there’s absolutely nothing that Mobley can’t do on a basketball court. That guy is going to be so cool.
