BBNBA: Cavs eliminate Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and the Heat

The Miami Heat became the first 10-seed to make it through the play-in games into the playoffs, but that crowning achievement is where the positive accolades ended this season. In a battle of LeBron James’ former championship teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers finished off the first-round sweep Monday night in convincing fashion, upending Miami 138-83. The loss starts the offseason for former Kentucky stars Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo.
It wasn’t Tyler Herro’s best game, as the Bucket was more like the Brick-it. Herro shot 1-10 from the field, including 1-9 from 3-point range. He finished with just four points, one assist, and one rebound in 31 minutes of action.
Adebayo, on the other hand, notched a double-double in his final game of the 2024-25 campaign. He had 13 points and 12 rebounds on the night, but it wasn’t enough to slow down the gauntlet that was the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 55-point victory margin is the 4th-largest in NBA playoff history. The Cavs led by 26 after the first quarter, which was the worst deficit in Heat playoff history and the second-best margin for any quarter in Cavs playoff history. It only got worse from there, as the Cavs went up by 39 at halftime, the third-largest halftime lead in NBA playoff history. Worst of all, the +122 margin through four games made it the most lopsided series in NBA playoff history.

That’s a lot of history made for the wrong reasons if you’re the Heat. At least Bam and Herro will have extra time to work on their golf game, or fishing, or whatever other hobbies they have.
Elsewhere in the NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets in a thriller, 109-106, to take a 3-1 series lead. Former ‘Cats Reed Sheppard and Kevin Knox did not play.
