BBNBA: Anthony Davis garners MVP chants with stellar performance in season-opener
Ladies and gentlemen, the NBA season is finally here!
To get the night started on Tuesday, the New York Knicks took on the defending champion Boston Celtics inside of TD Garden, and the champs made their mark on opening night. Karl-Anthony Towns and the Knicks struggled to find their rhythm throughout the night as he managed to score just 12 points in the 132-109 loss. Jacob Toppin saw three minutes of action, but didn’t provide any production.
However, the main story of opening night was the Los Angeles Lakers, and sure, LeBron and Bronny shared their first father-son moment on an NBA court together and that’s cool, but both were outshined by Anthony Davis.
In 38 minutes, Davis put up 36 points on 11-23 (1-3 3PT) shooting while also recording 16 rebounds, four assists and three blocks in a 110-103 home win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. This marked the 100th game in Davis’ career in which he put up at least 25 points and 15 rebounds, according to the Lakers.
With his impressive outing, the Laker faithful showed him his love as MVP chants echoed through Crypto.com Arena.

Jarred Vanderbilt, who is also on the Lakers roster, didn’t play on Tuesday night since he is recovering from a foot injury. As for the T-Wolves, Julius Randle had a fairly solid debut with his new team, posting 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes on the floor.
However, Rob Dillingham, who was acquired by Minnesota after the Spurs drafted him with the 8th pick in the NBA Draft, did not play on Tuesday under a “Coach’s Decision” tag.
