After sitting out for the previous five games due to an ankle sprain, De’Aaron Fox came back triumphantly, finishing with 28 points and six rebounds against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night in a 132-120 win for the Sacramento Kings. Over the weekend it was unclear if the Kings’ All-Star point guard would be available against the Cavs, but he was seen participating fully in the shoot-around before the matchup.

Just 11 seconds into the game, Fox got the first bucket for Sacramento to get things rolling. Although he fell into a cold spell in the second quarter, Fox came out of the locker room in the third and had eight points to place his team in a comfortable position heading into the final 12 minutes of play.

‘Cats duo remains strong

Former Wildcat and current teammate of Fox, Malik Monk, also played big minutes for Sacramento in Monday night’s victory. Monk had exceptional luck from behind the arc as he finished going 3-5 from the three-point line. Two of Fox’s eight points in the third quarter came from a beautiful Monk alley-oop that allowed Fox to flush a one-handed dunk.

The duo that was once a star-studded show for Kentucky now continues to wow the NBA with their creative assists and stellar shooting. Both players combined for 41 of the 132 total points that the Kings ended up with by the end of the night to obtain the dub. A victory that secured Sacramento’s head coach Mike Brown his 400th overall career win.

New York Knicks not as lucky

Julius Randle and the New York Knicks were less fortunate on Monday night as they fell 114-98 to the Boston Celtics on the road. Randle tallied 25 points and nine rebounds in his team’s defeat. Although Randle and teammate Jalen Brunson finished with a combined 51 points, New York was without their usual starter, RJ Barrett, who has been out the past couple of games with a migraine.

New York had been on a roll before their latest loss, as they had won three in a row after starting the season at 0-2. The first half was promising for the Knicks as they led by eight points with a little over a minute left in the second quarter. Unfortunately, a hot streak by the Celtics allowed them to cut their deficit to 53-52 after a Jaylen Brown buzzer-beater three-pointer going into the locker room.

Immanuel Quickley also contributed to the Knick’s final score with seven points and six rebounds, but those numbers were not enough to close the gap that Boston created in the fourth quarter thanks to Jayson Tatum’s four three-pointers to close out the Celtic’s 114-98 dub.

Other BBNBA Notes:

  • Chris Livingston and TyTy Washington, who were not with the Bucks as they suit up for the franchise’s G League affiliate, did not play in Milwaukee’s 118-109 victory over the Bulls on Monday night
  • Trey Lyles remains out for Sacramento with a calf injury. Lyles has been out for the last seven games, and a return timetable is not yet clear.
