BBNBA: Herro celebrates big game with his daughter and SGA drops 30 (again)

Much like Kentucky’s season, the BBNBA is rife with injuries at the moment. Anthony Davis is out with a thigh injury. PJ Washington is dealing with a sprained ankle. Jarred Vanderbilt is easing back into action with a food injury. The list goes on and on. If not for ailment, some players are just in a funk. For example, the usually automatic Tyrese Maxey only had five points on Saturday, tying his season low, a lowlight he set just a few weeks prior. Still, a few former ‘Cats matched their present star power, All-Stars Tyler Herro and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
Let’s start with Tyler Herro.
Herro goes for 29, celebrates with toddler daughter
The man affectionally known as The Bucket, who, apropos of his name, worked a shift at Raising Canes recently, dropped 29 points on Friday night in the Miami Heat’s win over the Indiana Pacers. However, it wasn’t only his scoring prowess that seized social media. It was the interaction with his toddler daughter that had the Internet oohing and awing.
Herro celebrated his big win with some offspring. No, I’m not slyly referencing that fact that he is pretty fly for a white guy, I mean his literal offspring.
Herro picked up his daughter, Zya, from the crowd and took her back to the locker room with him after the game. Hand-in-hand, he told reporters, “It feels great to get the win. Obviously, we want to try and stack the Ws here at home and that’s another one for us. [We] gotta continue to keep it rolling. Come on, girl!”
Channeling his inner Brandon Garrison, Herro conducted the post-game presser with his daughter in his lap. Zya did not comment on the Heat’s win, but to be fair, it is unclear if she is old enough to talk in complete sentences.
Herro also had seven assists and three rebounds on the night, as he stays hot coming off his first All-Star appearance.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander notches 36th 30-point game of season
Can we just go ahead and give the MVP to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander now so I don’t have to keep panicking that it will somehow slip through his fingers with only 20-some games left? That would make things much less stressful on me. No? Okay, well, hopefully he continues to be a consistent highlight in the BBNBA posts.
SGA propelled the Thunder to their 48th win on Friday, trouncing the Hawks 135-113. His 31 points led the way for Oklahoma City, a place where I just few in and out of on Wednesday for Kentucky’s win over the Sooners.

This marked the 36th time Gilgeous-Alexander has crested the 30-point mark in a game his season. Gentle reminder: he’s only played in 58 total games. That means he has scored at least 30 points in 62 percent of the games he has played this season.
He already holds the franchise record for number of 30-point games in a season, a record he set last year with 51. SGA could very well be on pace to flirt with beating his own record this season, all while leading his team to a 10-game lead in the standings over the second-place Denver Nuggets.
SGA FOR MVP!
Shaedon Sharpe is more than just a dunker
Shaedon Sharpe can do more than just dunk. He can also build up the hopes of an entire fanbase with promises to play and lead his team to a national title only to pull the rug out from under them and skip off to the NBA with no cares given.
Sorry, what just happened there? I blacked out for a minute.
Anyway, Shaedon Sharpe may have landed dunk of the year earlier in the week, but it turns out he is more than just a one-trick highlight reel. Sharpe scored 25 points on Friday for the Portland Trail Blazers in their win over the Brooklyn Nets.
This included 4-6 from 3-point range, showcasing he is more than just an ole dunksman. Big Blue Nation could have told you that from all the times they saw him warm up, but the world recognizes this more and more every day.
This big game was just two days removed from dropping a career-high 36 points on Tuesday. It would have been nice seeing him post these kinds of numbers at Kentucky, but I’m sure his handlers had a solid reason for prohibiting him from showcasing his talents blue.
I’m not bitter though.
