BBNBA: Herro scores 33 in Phoenix, Diallo/Lyles lead Detroit win
We saw some pretty noteworthy performances from our ‘Cats in the NBA last night. Let’s talk Tyler Herro and Trey Lyles.
Herro records season-high in Phoenix
The Heat still can’t find a place for Tyler Herro in the starting lineup ahead of guys like Max Strus and Omer Yursteven. Instead, Herro has been the best sixth man in the NBA this season and played his best game of the year in Phoenix last night.
Herro went for a season-high 33 points on 12-20 shooting to lead Miami to a 123-100 blowout victory over the best team in the NBA. Aside from Herro, most of the primary players for the Heat were missing too. Including NBA All-Stars Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler.
Heck of a performance from Herro and a heck of a win for Miami.
Devin Booker was no slouch in the loss, though. Despite the beatdown his side received, Booker led the Suns in scoring with 26. He didn’t shoot particularly well from the floor but he did convert all 13 of his free throws.
Diallo & Lyles lead Pistons over Magic
It was a basement brawl in Detroit as the two worst teams in the East battled for an eighth win of the season. Detroit got it, thanks to its pair of former ‘Cats. It was a low-scoring, 97-92 game but Hamidou Diallo led the winning side in scoring. He started and tallied 17 points and six rebounds.
Fellow Piston Trey Lyles was right behind him with 16 points and also led the team with 13 rebounds off the bench. Between the two, that’s 33 points and 19 rebounds that went a long way in securing the win.

Celtics get their revenge
A few nights ago, the Knicks erased a 25-point Celtics lead and came back to win a thriller. With a lot of the credit belonging to former Kentucky guys Immanuel Quickley and Julius Randle.
Saturday night Boston got up by 24, but with better timing. They won 99-75 on a miserable offensive night for New York. Randle missed 13 of his 19 shots but still battled to score 13 points, grab 12 rebounds and finish with six assists.
Immanuel Quickley wasn’t bad either. He started and led the Knicks with 18 points on 7-11 shooting while adding four assists. 75 total points is a rough outing for a modern NBA team, but the finger-pointing shouldn’t include Randle or IQ.
