BBNBA: Jamal Murray hits circus-shot buzzer-beater in Nuggets win
Down two in the closing seconds of a game in his native country of Canada, Jamal Murray hit the kind of shot you probably attempted in H-O-R-S-E as a kid. Murray pulled off a baseline mid-air, up-and-under, behind-the-backboard, reverse layup that tied the game at 114 and sent it to overtime, leaving Toronto fans stunned.
The Nuggets would go on to win the game 127-125.
Murray finished the game with 17 points on just 6-20 shooting but made the one that counted most. He also flirted with a triple-double by grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out seven assists.
This was the Nuggets’ first win of the season team just one season removed from winning the NBA championship has been off to a slow start. Shots like Murray’s going in are a good sign that Denver’s slow start won’t last long.
De’Aaron Fox eclipses 10,000 career points
De’Aaron Fox has hit a milestone in Sacramento. On Monday, he became only the 5th player in Kings’ franchise history to reach 10,000 career points. And he’s still going, although he has a long way to go to reach Oscar Robertson’s 22,009.
Fox eclipsed the 10K milestone by adding 24 against the Portland Trail Blazers in a game where Sac Town coasted to victory. Former Kentucky players scored exactly a third of the team’s 111 points, as Malik Monk had 12 off the bench and Trey Lyles chipped in three.
This was the Kings’ first win of the season, and thus, the first opportunity to light the beam. Now armed with free agent pickup Demar DeRozan, the Kings are ready make a push for the playoffs after barely missing out last season.

Devin Booker and Anthony Davis do battle in the desert
My Phoenix Suns have a few too many Dukies on the team for my liking, but they still have Devin Booker at the top of the roster, so that’s comforting. He and Anthony Davis faced off on Monday night in a battle of stars that saw Book and the Suns come out on top.
Booker led all of the BBNBA in scoring on the evening (while wearing some sick reverse Halloween Book 1s), putting up 33 in a game where Phoenix trailed by as many as 18 in the first half. Afterwards, Booker said, “We were up by 20 in LA and lost, so we owed them one.”
The Lakers can’t blame Anthony Davis for the loss. The Brow was his usual Godzilla-like self, filling up the stat sheet with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks.
Other BBNBA Notes:
- Everyone’s favorite forgotten former Kentucky player, Isaiah Jackson, had four blocks in his 22 minutes on the court for the Pacers. He also chipped in seven points and nine boards. Could we finally see him getting some regular minutes for Indiana?
- To highlight another solid defensive performance, PJ Washington had four steals for the Mavericks in their win over the Utah Jazz. He also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Both Karl-Anthony Towns and Bam Adebayo had double-doubles in their respective games, but Towns and the Knicks took the L against the Cavs and Bam helped the Heat get by the Pistons.
