BBNBA: Julius Randle has the most 20/10 games by a Knick in the last quarter century
When he was in the Bluegrass state, Julius Randle was a double-double machine, and that hasn’t changed since he has been playing basketball in the Big Apple. On Saturday, Randle accomplished this feat again, recording 24 points and 11 rebounds in the Knicks’ 106-94 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Randle now has more 20-point, 10-rebound double-doubles than any other franchise player in the last 25 years.
The Knicks were without Jalen Brunson on Saturday, not to mention Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett, whom the team traded to Toronto recently. That left Randle to shoulder much of the scoring load himself, and shoulder it he did.
The game also marked the 500th win for Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau. After the game, Randle said, “Just happy for him, appreciative that we could be a part of it. 500 wins is a great accomplishment. A lot of work, a lot of time spent, a lot of hours in this league. Congrats to Coach.”
Anthony Davis notches his second-career triple-double
Anthony Davis has been putting up Godzilla-like numbers this year. Now healthy for a sustained period, Davis has been a beast for the somewhat disappointing Los Angeles Lakers, who sit two games below .500 and 11th place in the Western Conference.
On Saturday, this trend continued, as the Brow posted his second career triple-double, registering 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists. He chipped in four blocks as well because that’s kind of his thing. The Lakers were without LeBron James, which likely helped Davis’s stat line but not the final score. The Lakers fell to the suddenly red-hot Utah Jazz, 132-125.
After the game, Davis still took the blame for the loss, focusing on his 5-21 shooting rather than the triple-double. “Everyone did their job except for me. With LeBron out, everyone had to step up and those guys did, except for me.”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander drops 37 points in yet another Thunder win
Speaking of beastly numbers, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been putting up some insane stats himself. On Saturday, the former Kentucky bench player and current NBA MVP candidate put up 37 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 112-100 win over the Orlando Magic.
SGA is third in the league in scoring this season, averaging 31.5 points per contest, but more impressively, he is the NBA leader in steals, grabbing 2.4 per game. If he were to maintain that number throughout the season, it would be the highest steals-per-game average of any player in the last 12 years.
Gilgeous-Alexander’s both-sides-of-the-ball heroics have the Thunder tied for the best record in the Western Conference and himself in serious consideration for the MVP. I do not think I’m the only one when I say I did not see this coming.
Cheers to SGA.
