It’s been a minute since KSR has checked in on the happenings of the BBNBA. Turns out, there’s a lot going on with the players on the current Kentucky roster and what this wonderfully huggable team is doing. But in an effort to not abandon those who came before them, let’s do a quick recap of former Kentucky players in the NBA last week, even though most of them are injured.

Justin Edwards is an NBA starter

Sure, the Philadelphia 76ers are in tank mode, but rookie Justin Edwards has become a centerpiece in their starting lineup. The former ‘Cat has started the last 10 games in which he’s played, averaging an impressive 14.6 points per game.

He is currently riding a five-game streak of scoring double figures and a two-game streak of scoring at least 20. On Friday against the Spurs, Edwards matched his season which with 25 points.

The Justin Edwards saga is one for a storybook at some point, as the former lottery pick projection went undrafted after a lackluster year in Lexington where his confidence was seemingly sapped. His hometown team picked up on a two-way contract as a flyer and now he’s flying to the moon.

Devin Booker drops 40 as the Suns cling on to the play-in game

Devin Booker had the highest scoring output in a single game of all BBNBA last week, as the man whose car used to get licked on Kentucky’s campus poured in 41 points against the Bulls on Wednesday. He also chipped in seven assists on the night.

The Suns have been putrid all year, falling seriously short of their expectations. However, they are on a three-game winning streak and are clinging to the 10th spot in the standings, giving them a shot at the play-in tournament. With most teams having only 10-12 games remaining in the regular season, it is crunch time for standings jockeying.

Just give Shai Gilgeous-Alexander the MVP already

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has the Oklahoma City Thunder 13.5 games ahead of the second-place team in the Western Conference. That means OKC could lose all 11 of their remaining games and still finish with the top seed in the West. That is just an unbelievable marker of success and it wouldn’t be possible without SGA.

There has only been one game the entire season where the former ‘Cat has failed to reach at least 20 points and that was back in October of 2024. In that game, he scored 18.

SGA is averaging over 32 points per game in this last four games has scored 48, 31, 30, and 26. If this were the NFL, the Thunder would shut him down for these last 11 games in the season to rest him for a playoff run, but that is unlikely to happen.

Can we just give him the MVP award now? Please and thank you.
