BBNBA: Karl-Anthony Towns becomes fastest Knick in history to 400 points and 200 rebounds
I’m still not used to seeing Karl-Anthony Towns in a New York Knicks jersey, but it suits him in a way. The New Jersey native is much closer to home than he was in Minnesota and now has the Knicks off to a respectable 10-7 record in the East, playing in his late mother’s favorite arena. On Monday, Towns ventured back out west for a collision with the Denver Nuggets and brought a dub back to the Big Apple.
Towns had a monster double-double in the 145-118 win over Denver, pouring in 30 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, and coming away with three steals. He is now the fastest player in Knicks history to reach 400 points and 200 rebounds in franchise history.
Want another Karl-Anthony Towns superlative? Me too. KAT had five 30-point games with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season. Through just 17 games with New York, he already has seven, including two 40-point outings.
It must be good to be back home.
For the Nuggets, Jamal Murray had a solid game of his own with 20 points and seven assists, but Towns and the Knicks proved to be too much to overcome.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander drops 37 points in a win over Sacramento in Malik Monk’s return
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to put up video game numbers seemingly every night. Against the Kentucky Sacramento Kings on Monday, SGA casually dropped 37 points and handed out 11 assists in a 130-109 route, spoiling Malik Monk’s first game back from injury.

Monk missed the last seven games with a right ankle sprain but returned to his usual spot in the Kings’ rotation as the first man off the bench. As aspected, he showed a little rust, connecting on just four out of his 12 shots from the field, but finished with 14 points.
De’Aaron Fox also had 14 points, as he too, did not have the best shooting night. Trey Lyles and Cason Wallace pitched in two points and four points respectively for their respective teams. Respect.
Other BBNBA Notes:
- Following the lead of Towns and Gilgeous-Alexander, PJ Washington was the third member of the BBNBA to notch a double-double on Monday. He had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the Mavericks’ 10-point win over the Hawks.
- The New Orleans Pelicans signed true point guard Elfid Payton, reliving Brandon Boston Jr. from playing that role out of position. Payton had 21 assists on Monday, so that might have been a smart move. Boston moved off the ball and finished with nine points in a loss to Indiana.
- Nick Richards and Immanuel Quickley remained out on Monday. Richards is still recovering from a rib injury while Quickley isn’t quite fully healed from a partial tear in his left elbow’s ulnar collateral ligament (UCL). He’s likely still weeks away from returning.
