BBNBA Regular Season Recap: 33 former Kentucky players saw action

557 different players participated in at least one NBA game this season. Incredibly, 33 of them were former Kentucky Wildcats. Considering how much the NBA has become an international pool of talent, 5.9 percent of players coming from one school is remarkable. The BBNBA is unmatched.
Even if you were not to count Johnny Juzang and Keion Brooks Jr. to bring the total down to 31 players, both of whom transferred to different schools before making the leap to the NBA, Kentucky would still account for 5.6 percent of the total players who took part in the 2024-25 season. The next closest was Duke with 24 players.
Kentucky players weren’t exactly benchwarmers either. Four players made the All-Star team, including Tyler Herro won the All-Star 3-point competition. 18 of Kentucky’s 33 players averaged double-figures with one guy in particular rising to another level.
The frontrunner for the MVP award, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, scored a total of 2,484 points, shattering the previous BBNBA record held by Anthony Davis, who scored 2,110 during the 2017-18 season. SGA’s statistical superlatives are probably worth an entire post dedicated just to his uncanny season, but I’ll leave you with this one. Gilgeous-Alexander is one of just four players in NBA history to average at least 32 points, six assists, five rebounds, and one steal per game. He joins Luka Doncic, James Harden, and a guy by the name of Michael Jordan.

This year also saw a few two-way players earn a standard NBA contract. Brandon Boston Jr. resurrected his career in New Orleans before getting injured. Justin Edwards reminded everyone why he was such a highly-regarded recruit by going undrafted and earning a starting spot with the 76ers.
Now that NIL is in the picture, luring players back to college who otherwise may have shot their shot at the professional ranks, we may never see this quantity of players from a single school ever again.
