BBNBA Roundup: Happy Birthday, Tyler Herro! Enjoy your quarantine
Oh, to be young, rich, and outlandishly confident. This week on BBNBA Roundup, we’re talking a special day for the fresh prince of Miami-Dade County — Tyler Herro! — and the Health & Safety Protocols that nearly spoiled it. Plus, more from the wild world of Devin Booker and the latest in NBA trade talk. Need I say more?
Herro Spends 22nd in Quarantine
It’s been quite a year for Tyler Herro. After building on his breakout rookie season with an even better 2021, Herro entered year three with the Miami Heat more confident than ever — and if you’ve ever seen him play basketball, you know that’s saying something. But so far this season, the NBA’s leading bench scorer has played up to the hype.
Off the court, it’s been just as wild of a ride. Herro and his girlfriend, model Katya Elise Henry, recently welcomed their first child into the world. In September, he opened up to Sports Illustrated about his maturation as a father.
Did I mention he did all that as a 21-year-old? Sobering thought, I know. If he’d stayed at Kentucky, Herro would be a senior right now. He’s younger than Kellan Grady, Davion Mintz and Oscar Tshiebwe!
Anyhow, Herro turned 22 on Thursday — and he did so from the cozy confines of his luxury Miami residence, having just entered the NBA’s COVID-19 Safety protocols the night before.
Herro missed Miami’s win over the Trail Blazers on Wednesday, Friday’s loss to the Hawks, and was ruled out for Sunday night’s clash with the Lakers; if he’s asymptomatic, he should be eligible to return as soon as this Wednesday.
While in quarantine, the Boy Wonder talked with Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald about his growth on and off the court this year. It’s a pretty good read, if you have the time:
“You can get caught up in the noise and stuff like that, but every single day you don’t realize that you’re getting 1 percent better every single day and learning something new every single day. I’ve grown a lot in my three years here and I’m looking forward to the future.”

Meanwhile, Henry took a break from her regularly scheduled Instagram influencer programming to share a charming post celebrating her boyfriend. Just in case, you know, you were starting to feel sorry for the guy.
Booker keeps spreading the love
Two weeks ago, Devin Booker made headlines for starting beef with a dinosaur. They’ve since made up. The jokes, however, have not ceased; on Monday, the Spurs mascot poked a little fun at him with a new kind of baseline distraction technique:
He may be losing the battle on Twitter, but he’s doing just fine on the court. In the five games since his quibble with the Raptor, Booker is averaging over 30 points per game, including a 48-point outburst on Monday.
He’s also been making headlines by association elsewhere, as is the burden of one who dates a Kar-Jen-dashian sister. This week in absurdly obvious things, Kendall Jenner admitted she has a type (hint: tall men that play with orange balls).

But don’t worry, here’s a wholesome one to cleanse your palate: Booker surprised his mother with a brand-spanking-new Mercedes-Benz G 550 for her birthday, complete with a bow. Isn’t that sweet?
Must be freakin’ nice, eh?
Wall, Fox mired in pre-deadline rumors
With the NBA’s Feb. 10 Trade Deadline fast approaching, the rumor mill is starting to spin at full tilt. Among those reportedly on the block are De’Aaron Fox in Sacramento and John Wall in Houston.
Among the suitors for Fox are the Pacers, who reportedly entertained an offer for Domantas Sabonis, and the Sixers, who are downright desperate to offload Ben Simmons. Still, Fox told the media on Wednesday that he’s “not worried about anything” for the moment.
Frankly, I find that hard to believe. For starters, they’d just given up 133 points to the Pistons… but c’est la vie, I guess.
The Wall rumors are even more bizarre. Do we really think that Wall for Russell Westbrook again will solve anything?
Other ‘Cats whose names have been tossed around in these rumors include P.J. Washington, Hamidou Diallo and Karl-Anthony Towns. Should be a fun couple of weeks!
