BBNBA: SGA hits revenge game-winner at the buzzer
Omicron is ravaging the NBA right now, sidelining seemingly half the league this week. Luckily, many of our former ‘Cats have avoided the crisis and had the opportunity to play on Saturday. Let’s talk about yesterday’s BBNBA matchups.
SGA for the win (for real this time)
In Thursday’s NBA recap, we addressed one of the wildest endings to a game we may ever see. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit a circus shot from the logo only for the Pelicans to inbound the ball and hit a game-winner from the Oklahoma City three-point line.
Yesterday, SGA found himself in a similar situation. Down two points to the Los Angeles Clippers with just a handful of seconds remaining, Shai used a dribble-stepback to fire off a three and nailed it to win the game at the buzzer. After Wednesday’s heartbreak, he wisely left no time on the clock for a miracle heave from LAC.
SGA tallied 18 on the night and got some rare help from his teammates as Lu Dort racked up 29 points and rookie Josh Giddey nearly pulled an Oscar by grabbing a Thunder rookie-record 18 rebounds.
On the other sidelines, Brandon Boston Jr. played but played very little and didn’t get up a shot in his five minutes of action. His teammate Eric Bledsoe had plenty of shooting opportunities — probably a few too many for how poorly he played. Bledsoe scored nine but shot just 3-13 from the field in the loss.

Randle & Knicks in a funk
It may be accurate to say the New York Knicks go as Julius Randle goes. In their last 10 games, neither Randle nor his team has performed well. New York is 2-8 in its last 10 outings and Julius Randle has only shot 50% from the field in three of those games, and none of the last seven.
He’s also recorded a negative plus-minus in all eight losses. This isn’t the Eastern Conference of the past. Teams like Cleveland, Chicago and Charlotte are firmly in the NBA playoff race at this point when Randle’s Knicks dusted each of them in the standings a year ago.
C’mon Julius, let’s pick it up!
DeMarcus Cousins drops double-double in place of Giannis
Giannis Antetokounmpo is out for the time being, but fear not, Deer fans. DeMarcus Cousins is here to save the season. Yes, Milwaukee fell by nearly 30 points last night at home against Cleveland, but Boogie Cousins did all he could to prevent the catastrophe.
Cousins had his second double-digit scoring game as a Buck and set a season-high with 12 points. He made it his first double-double in a Bucks jersey by adding 12 rebounds. It’s nothing compared to the ridiculous numbers he put up in New Orleans before a slew of injuries sidelined him for nearly three years. But it’s nice to see Cousins land on his feet on an NBA contender.
