Not a great night of NBA hoops from the Kentucky guys last night, but some interesting performances nonetheless. Let’s talk about it.

Herro gets the start and goes for 18

Tyler Herro was a prime Sixth Man of the Year candidate for the first few months of the season. But lately, he’s been thrust into the starting lineup amid other absences from the Heat lineup.

Herro didn’t shoot the ball terribly well yesterday, going just 7-23 from the field. But he did tally 18 on the night to stay close to his season average of 20 a game. However, the Heat still fell on the road against Golden State — the team with the best record in the NBA.

Miami had won five straight to leapfrog to the four-seed, but have now lost two straight, still holding onto the four-spot in the East though.

Eric Bledsoe abysmal vs. T-Wolves

Eric Bledsoe has had some productive games lately, so one stray performance isn’t much to worry about. But man, was his game vs. Minnesota rough last night. Bledsoe started, missed all three of his shots and finished with six times as many turnovers as points. He coughed the ball up six times while one make from the free-throw line represented his only contribution to the scoreboard.

While Bledsoe was partially to blame for the Clippers’ loss, Jarred Vanderbilt was partially to credit for the Wolves’ win. Vando scored eight points and corralled nine rebounds to help hold down the frontcourt while Karl-Anthony Towns is out for the time being.

Pistons escape basement with Bucks win

The Detroit Pistons were the anchors of the East, in dead last heading into last night’s road battle with the Bucks. They finally got Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes and Trey Lyles back in the starting lineup and the difference showed via a 115-106 win against the defending champs.

Hamidou Diallo followed up his rockstar week of 30-point performances with 11 points and nine rebounds while playing more than 30 minutes for the sixth straight game.

Stay tuned tomorrow for an in-depth review of Diallo’s last week in the NBA. The fourth-year guard is taking full advantage of his minutes.
