Before suffering a foot injury that kept him out of action for a month and a half, Tyrese Maxey started the first 15 games of the season for the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged nearly 23 PPG.

Since his return to action on December 30, Maxey has started only seven games. He hasn’t been featured in Philly’s starting lineup since January 21st, seeing himself become Philadelphia’s spark plug off the bench in that span.

Maxey torched the Rockets on Monday night, scoring 26 points on 10-16 shooting in 35 minutes off the bench. In terms of efficiency (62.5 FG%), this was Maxey’s best outing since his November injury. In 37 games played this season, the third-year guard is averaging above career averages in PPG (19.9), APG (3.6), and RPG (2.9). Former ‘Cat TyTy Washington, who has appeared in 10 of Houston’s last 15 games, had some humorous words for Maxey after their matchup Monday night.

Washington scored four points in 20 minutes off the bench in the Rockets’ loss.

The Sixers currently sit at 37-19, good for third in the Eastern Conference. In the aftermath of this season’s insane trade deadline, the Eastern Conference has become a bloodbath. The top four teams in the conference are currently riding three-game winning streaks or better, making divisional games must-watch television down the stretch.

Anthony Davis Posts Near 20/20 Game in Lakers Loss

In Los Angeles’ 127-115 loss to the Trail Blazers on Monday night, future Hall of Famer Anthony Davis finished one point shy of his 10th career 20/20 game.

Although his stats were great, his performance did not please Laker fans. Davis made only eight of 18 attempted shots against a Trail Blazers team devoid of a true big man. In the aftermath of this performance, AD deactivated his Instagram due to the negativity he has been receiving.

Before the Lakers shipped out Russell Westbrook for D’Angelo Russell at the trade deadline, Davis was averaging 26.8 PPG, 11.8 RPG, and 2.5 APG in 30 games played with Westbrook. In three games played with Westbrooks’ replacement D’Lo, Davis’ scoring average has dipped to 19.3 PPG, although his RPG (15.3) and APG (2.7) have improved. Safe to say that members of Lakers Nation aren’t the biggest fans of this trade so far.

When he has been healthy this year, The “Brow” has been nothing short of spectacular. In his 11th NBA season, Davis is averaging above career averages with 25.9 PPG, 12.4 RPG, and 2.4 APG.

BBNBA Notes:

  • NBA All-Star Julius Randle scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in New York’s blowout victory over the depleted Brooklyn Nets, good for his 37th double-double of the season. Randle’s 37 double-doubles rank third in the entire league behind Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis. Meanwhile, Immanuel Quickley contributed 14 points in 28 minutes off the bench, knocking down two of his three three-point attempts. New York’s trade for Josh Hart seems to have injected some life into this team, as they have won two in a row since his Knick debut.
  • Bam Adebayo and a Tyler Herro-less Heat team fell just short of a win over a Jamal Murray-less Denver Nuggets team Monday night. Adebayo posted an unusual stat line, scoring 19 points and grabbing just two rebounds in the loss. Miami continues to teeter on the NBA Play-In cut-off line, as they currently sit a half-game ahead of the Knicks for sixth in the Conference.
