BBNBA: Tyrese Maxey records first triple-double in win over the Bulls
It’s been a rough season so far for the Philadelphia 76ers, but Tyrese Maxey‘s performance Sunday night was a rare bright spot.
The budding superstar WENT OFF in the 76ers’ 108-100 win over the Chicago Bulls, scoring 25 points (10-22 FG), dishing out a career-high 14 assists, and grabbing 11 rebounds for his first career triple-double. Maxey’s 14 assists were three more than his previous career high in a game (11 on four occasions).
In his fifth season in the NBA, Maxey is averaging 24.3 PPG, 4.6 AST, and 3.1 REB per game (15 games). He however is shooting just 40.3% from the field, which is a career-low. This can be explained however, as Maxey is averaging a career-high 21.2 FGA per game.
Following Philly’s win on Sunday night, the Sixers improved to 7-15 and sit at 12th in the Eastern Conference. They haven’t missed the NBA Playoffs since the 2016-17 season.
AD and Laker nab home win in LeBron’s absence
Although LeBron James missed his first game of the 2024-25 season, Anthony Davis‘ 30 point double-double led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 107-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. AD dropped 30 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and blocked five shots.

He’s bounced back in a major way after scoring just eight points on 3-14 shooting last Wednesday night, totaling a combined 68 points (25-48 FG) over the Lakers’ last two games.
The Lakers are 13-11 through their first 24 games of the season, winning eight of 11 games at home.
Portland’s Shaedon Sharpe led the Blazers with 19 points (7-15 FG) in the loss.
Booker leads Suns in scoring in loss
Devin Booker scored 25 points (8-21 FG) and dished out seven assists in Phoenix’s 115-110 loss to the Orlando Magic. Sunday’s loss marked Phoenix’s ninth in its last 13 games. Kevin Durant was inactive in eight of those nine losses.
This season has been a disappointing one for the 4x NBA All-Star, who is averaging just 24.9 PPG. That total is tied for his lowest scoring average since the 2017-2018 season.
Following this rough patch for Booker’s Suns, Phoenix sits at 12-11 and ninth in the Western Conference.
Other BBNBA Notes:
- De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, and the Sacramento Kings walloped the Utah Jazz 141-197 Saturday night. Fox was second in scoring with 21 points (9-16 FG), while Malik Monk totaled 16 points (7-15 FG). The Kings remain one game under .500 at 12-13 following back-to-back wins.
- The best season in the young career of Brandon Boston Jr. continued Sunday night, as Boston contributed 17 points on 7-11 shooting for the Pelicans. The former five-star is averaging career-highs in points (11.9), assists (3.5), rebounds (3.7), field goal percentage (43.3%), and steals (1.5). His play however isn’t quite translating to wins, as New Orleans fell to 5-20 following its 121-116 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
- Nick Richards had another big night on the boards for the Charlotte Hornets, grabbing 14 rebounds in Charlotte’s 113-109 win over the Indiana Pacers. Richards has totaled double-digit rebounds in five of his nine games played this season.
- Minnesota’s Julius Randle had a rough night offensively, shooting just 4-15 from the field for 14 points in the Timberwolves’ 114-106 loss to the Golden State Warriors.
