BBNBA: Wallace scores season-high while SGA dominates, Towns and Draymond get into it

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 28 more points than Cason Wallace in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s win over the Detroit Pistons on Saturday in a game where Wallace scored a season-high. And I thought my cousin was a one-upper.
Wallace dropped 20 points on the night to go along with five rebounds and three steals. This was two points shy of his career-high (and jersey number), 22, that he scored last season. The 3-and-D specialist knocked down two of his four attempts from behind the arc and finished 7-11 from the rest of the field.
Meanwhile, Wallace’s MVP-leading teammate casually poured in 48 points, as the former Kentucky points guard looks more and more unstoppable every night.
The Thunder scored 113 points in total, meaning the 68 combined points between Wallace and SGA accounted for 60 percent of OKC’s final score. Not too bad.
Karl-Anthony Towns scores 29 in Knicks loss
With Jalen Brunson currently out for the Knicks, Karl-Anthony Towns is shouldering the brunt of New York’s scoring responsibility. He did that on Saturday, notching a game-high 29 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, but the Knicks fell to the Warriors 97-94.

The real action, though, came in the game within the game. We are just one week removed from Draymond Green publicly making a fool of himself by claiming Towns missed the game against Golden State because he was scared of Jimmy Butler. In actuality, Towns was attending the funeral of a close family friend.
Like most jerks, Draymond doubled down on his jerkiness, not pulling back his comments when informed on the real reason for Towns’ absence and then tripled down on the court Saturday night. Green called KAT soft after forcing a turnover, which caused the two to need to be separated as Towns took exception to the loudmouth Warrior.
Towns ultimately did not escalate the confrontation further than a stare down, taking heed to one of the best life lessons out there: Never wrestle a pig because you both get dirty and the pig likes it.
Other BBNBA Notes:
- Not unlike Cason Wallace playing the Robin to his MVP candidate teammate’s Batman, Jamal Murray scored 24 points next to Nikola Jokic’s 40 in the Nuggets’ surprising 126-123 loss to the Washington Wizards on Saturday. This is one game after Murray dropped 26 in Denver’s Friday win over the Lakers.
- Devin Booker picked up a much-needed win for the Suns on Friday over Sacramento, helping out with 22 points and a season-high 13 assists. Malik Monk chipped in 18 points and eight boards for the now-Fox-less Kings.
- Julius Randle, who, like so many current and former Wildcats this season, has missed more time than he’d like with injuries, but scored 22 points in the Timberwolves’ win over the Magic on Friday. Hopefully the hefty lefty is back to full strength as Minnesota preps for a playoff run.
