Today brings an action-packed recap of yesterday’s NBA action. SGA hit possibly the shot of the year so far to lead the Thunder over the Lakers as several other ‘Cats eclipsed 20 points. Check it out:
SGA hits three from the logo to secure OKC win over Lakers
Oh what a night for Shai Gilegous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder. OKC picked up its second win of the season to escape the bottom of the NBA standings, and it came against the same opponent as the team’s only other victory: the Los Angeles Lakers.
And once again the Thunder erased a sizeable deficit to come back and shock the 2020 champs.
SGA led the charge, hitting an array of stepback threes and euro-step layups, including this moonshot from the Lakers logo that secured the victory and sent NBA Twitter into a frenzy last night:
He finished with 28 points on 9-17 shooting and hit four of his seven threes while adding six assists. Check out his full-game highlights right here:
But on the other sideline, Los Angeles was a disaster aside from their three former All-Stars. Anthony Davis recorded 29 points and 18 rebounds as Russell Westbrook added 27 and Carmelo Anthony finished with 21 off the bench. Aside from that trio, no other Laker even scored 10 points in another collapse vs. the Thunder.

The Birthday Boy leads Sixers win over Pistons
On yesterday’s NBA recap, we celebrated Tyrese Maxey’s 21st birthday. Last night, he capped off the festivities with 20 points, five assists and four rebounds while leading the 76ers in minutes last night, playing 45 out of a possible 48. In fact, he leads Philadelphia in minutes played so far this year.
These are necessary contributions from Philly’s current starting point guard given that the Sixers brought zero guards off the bench in the 109-98 victory over Detroit. Maxey also continued to shoot the ball efficiently, making 8-12 shots. That marks five games in a row shooting over 50% from the field for ‘Rese.
Take a look at his clips from yesterday:
Booker drops 27 to push Suns over .500
The Phoenix Suns picked up a 123-111 win over Houston yesterday to eclipse .500 for the first time of the season after a somewhat shaky start. Devin Booker led the attack with 27 points on 8-18 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Like with most stars in the NBA, his numbers are slightly down to start the 2021-22 season but he and the Suns are starting to get their groove back with three straight wins.
