BBNFL: Randall Cobb finds the end zone twice for the Packers
It was quite the disappointing weekend when it comes to football around Lexington. Luckily enough, it was a busy Week 8 for some of the former ‘Cats in the league so we can at least pretend that Kentucky didn’t lose. Let’s take a look.
Randall Cobb steps up amidst other injuries
Usually when Davante Adams and Allen Lazard both get put onto the COVID-19 list, it would be major blow to an offense and impact the overall game plan. When you have Aaron Rodgers’ best friend in Randall Cobb, that doesn’t really matter.
Overall, if you just looked at the stat sheet, it didn’t seem like Cobb did all that much in the 24-21 win for the Packers on Thursday. He ended up with 15 yards on only three catches, two of those going for touchdowns. He also might’ve had the coolest non-catch in the NFL this year.
Cobb’s numbers have been relatively pedestrian when comparing to some of the other star receivers in the league. He’s often really the third or fourth option on the Packers when everybody is healthy and running. You can’t value his impact on Aaron Rodgers though. Cobb is a sense of familiarity that someone like Rodgers appreciates and values. Even if the numbers never match up, Randall Cobb going back to Green Bay has been a total success.

Josh Allen shines in Jags loss to Seattle
In another episode of good players playing for bad teams, Josh Allen showed out again for the now 1-6 Jacksonville Jaguars. The former first-rounder filled up the stat sheet this week on only 45 defensive snaps. To go along with Allen’s two sacks on the day, the edge rusher ended up with six tackles total, four for loss.
Sitting at 5.5 sacks now on the year, Allen is well on his way to the bounce-back campaign that we were all expecting after he left Lexington. Despite the Jaguars utter inability to become a respectable franchise, Josh Allen is well on his way to a future payday in this league. Whether it be from the Jags or the team they inevitably trade him to so they don’t have to.

- Jamin Davis (WAS): Two tackles on 79% of snaps
- Bud Dupree (TEN): Two tackles on 60% of snaps
