BBNFL: That's all, folks!
The NFL’s Divisional weekend was possibly the greatest football weekend we have witnessed. Unfortunately, though, it was also the last time we’ll see our former ‘Cats on a football field this season. Let’s talk about them.
Za’Darius Smith makes a splash in limited comeback
Za’Darius Smith spent nearly all season rehabbing from a back injury, just to watch his Green Bay Packers score 10 points in a playoff game at Lambeau. Brutal. Smith, who had missed the previous 16 games, was only able to get 19 defensive snaps in his return. He tried to make the most of it though.
Smith was able to collect a sack on his first play back this season, but that would be the only action he would get this game. Smith is a prime candidate to become a cap-casualty for Green Bay this season, so that’ll be something to monitor.
But Smith wasn’t the only pass rusher from Kentucky still in the playoffs this weekend.
Bud Dupree saw his season come to an end with the Tennessee Titans’ loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Dupree, who has also dealt with some injury concerns over the season, played 41 snaps and also collected a sack while also having an underwhelming showing.

Mike Edwards struggles in final showing
Yin and Yang.
Mike Edwards came off of arguably the best performance of his life last week and followed that with maybe the worst. In Tampa’s 30-27 loss to Los Angeles this weekend, Edwards finished with two tackles while only playing 16 snaps on defense. Bruce Arians has been inconsistent with giving Edwards time all year, but this was just shocking. Especially coming off of a Wild Card round with nine tackles and a pick.
Alas, it is what it is and Mike Edwards’ season is over. Without a doubt though it was his most impressive in the NFL so far. He set career highs in nearly every statistical category and increased his production in the pass defense game. It’s annoying we don’t get to see him again this year, but we should all be excited about his future.
Until next season.
