BBNFL Week 12 Recap: Snell & Cobb score first touchdowns of the season
Benny Snell made Kentucky fans proud on Monday night. The school’s all-time leading rusher subbed in for an injured Najee Harris on Monday Night Football and reminded the world he’s not just a special team specialist.
Snell had 12 carries for 62 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts, but more importantly, he had one gigantic and familiar smile at the end of the game. Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren demoted Snell to third-string running back this season, but persistence and opportunity paid off. When he was next man up, he stepped up, getting his first carries of the season in prime time.
Snell looked like he may as well have been in Kroger Field on Monday, falling forward with every run, constantly getting extra yardage, and making things tough for whoever attempted to tackle him. Steelers wide receiver Kenny Picket said after the game of Benny’s performance, “He’s just been working hard and staying patient, and when his opportunity game, he took advantage of it.”
That he did. Snell yeah!
Randall Cobb found the endzone too
Randall Cobb returned to action for the Green Bay Packers last week but found the endzone against the Philadelphia Eagles this time around. Cobb left the field in a cart with a towel over his head back in mid-October, clearly thinking his season and possibly career would be over, but the diagnosis provided good news and he was out just a few weeks with an ankle sprain.
Aaron Rodgers targeted his favorite receiver four times and Cobb pulled in two of them for 19 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown, Cobb’s first of the season.
The Packers ultimately lost to the Eagles on Sunday Night Football, but there’s something about those Kentucky boys playing in prime time.
Jamin Davis records first double-digit tackle game of the season
Jamin Davis has drawn both the ire and praise of both Washington Commanders coaches and fans this season, but on Sunday, it was nothing but the latter for the former Kentucky linebacker. For the first time all season, Davis recorded a double-digit tackle game, finishing with 10 (six solo).
It wasn’t just about the total of tackles, Davis stepped up when his team needed him the most, making multiple stops on crucial third downs. It all helped lead to the Commanders’ 19-13 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

The artists formerly known as the Football Team have now won three games in a row, moving them to 7-5 on the season. If it weren’t for the fact they are in the powerful NFC East where being two games above .500 gets you last place, they would be much more in the playoff conversation. However, with three wildcard spots available for the taking, they still might get there, and Jamin Davis has a lot to do with that.
Za’Darius Smith and Josh Allen help lead their teams to victories
It was a quiet night for those of us on the Za’Darius Smith sack watch as the former Kentucky pass rusher did not put one on the books, however, he did make three tackles, all solo, one of which was a tackle for a loss. More importantly for him, the Minnesota Vikings bested the New England Patriots 33-26, moving them to 9-2 and retaining the second-best record in the league.
In Jacksonville, the Jaguars stunned the Baltimore Ravens 28-27 on a touchdown and two-point conversion in the final minute. Josh Allen contributed five tackles (two solo) including one tackle for a loss in the team’s win. Veteran Corey Peters also got in on the action and recorded two tackles (one solo) of his own.
Of course, Luke Fortner went another game without missing a snap at the center position, but on top of that, he jumped on a fumble to save a turnover for the Jags.
For Tampa Bay, Mike Edwards had another solid outing with six tackles (two solo) and a pass deflection, though the Buccaneers lost to the Cleveland Browns in overtime.
Bud Dupree finished with two tackles (one solo) and a QB hit for the Tennessee Titans in their loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and to round out former Kentucky defensemen, Marquan “Bully” McCall and Quinton Bohanna chipped in a tackle each for the Carolina Panthers and Dallas Cowboys, respectively, in their teams’ wins.
