It was a relatively quiet week in the BBNFL, but Carrington Valentine ensured we weren’t completely void of former Kentucky player highlights. Valentine picked off Geno Smith in the endzone, giving him the first interception of his professional career.

The second-year player was so hyped about the pick that he made the ill-advised decision to pass up on the touchback and run it out, as he was brought down around the 14-yard line. But let’s be serious: you and I would have done the same thing.

The interception came late in the second quarter as the Seahawks were trying to make it a one-possession game, but Valentine shut that down real quick. The Packers went on to win 30-13.

Maybe this will be a lesson to Seattle not to wear those awful-looking lime-on-lime uniforms ever again.

Will Levis benched in 3rd quarter against the Bengals

There probably isn’t a player in the NFL this season with a wider range of highlights and lowlights than Will Levis. Unfortunately, the cringe-worthy turnovers have outnumbered the eye-popping touchdown passes. The former Kentucky quarterback has been the subject of tremendous ridicule all season, and it culminated in mid-game benching on Sunday.

In a game where many Kentuckians had a vested interest, the Cincinnati Bengals led the Titans 31-14 in the third quarter and after a Will Levis pick-six, the Tennessee coaching staff had seen enough. They brought in Mason Rudolph for the remainder of the contest.

The interception marked Levis’s third of the afternoon in addition to losing a fumble. He completed eight of his 12 pass attempts for a mere 89 yards and had a QB rating of a disastrous 1.1.

Rudolph, on the other hand, went on to throw for 209 yards and two touchdowns, putting Levis’s future as the starting quarterback in serious jeopardy.

After the game, when asked about being benched and all the negatives piling up, Levis said he’s going to, “Keep swinging,” and “Play the position the best that I can.”

You can’t help but sympathize with the former Wildcat. He has been playing with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder all season and a hit from fellow BBNFL member, Josh Hines-Allen, last week made it worse. He was able to play through it with the help of an injection but in a results-driven league, it is hard to say how much leeway the ailment will give him moving forward.

With three weeks left in their season and sitting at 3-11 on the year, it will be interesting to see if Tennessee shuts down Levis or keeps putting him back out there.
