BBNFL Week 6: Another Josh Hines-Allen sack and Ray Davis dominates MNF
Ray Davis has officially arrived. The former ‘Cat dominated under the bright lights of Monday Night Football in Week 6 of the NFL season with the Bills’ usual starter, James Cook, out with a toe injury. Davis racked up 153 scrimmage yards, divided into 97 rushing and 55 receiving. Remarkably, 63 out of his 97 yards on the ground came after contact, as the former Kentucky bulldozer showed off his relentless running style in prime time.
If it weren’t for Josh Allen vulturing a one-yard touchdown run, Davis would have added a score to his already impressive statline. The Bills have a peculiar relationship with the running game but after seeing what Davis did on Monday, look for them to trust their rookie tailback a little more.
After the game, Davis made the media rounds (including a sitdown with Scott Van Pelt on SportsCenter) wearing a cowboy hat because he’s that awesome.

Josh Hines-Allen picks up another sack
Now hyphenated to avoid confusion with Ray Davis’ running back in Buffalo, Josh Hines-Allen recorded another sack on Sunday, giving him 2.5 for the season. The Jacksonville Jaguars made their annual trip across the pond to London in Week 6. Unfortuantely, they can’t really use jetlag as an excuse for their loss and they always look like they play jetlagged.
The team might be rotten but at least Hines-Allen is not. There might not be a quick fix for the Jags (unless they trade high-value assets like Hines-Allen, something not out of the question) but until there is, Kentucky’s sack leader will keep doing what he does best: taking down opposing quarterbacks.
Other BBNFL Notes:
- Jamin Davis recorded another healthy scratch this week for the Commanders. It is clear the new regime in Washington is going a different direction so look for Davis’s time in our nation’s capital to be short-lived. The same might be true for Chris Rodriguez, however, he was active this week with starting running back Brian Robinson out. Unfortunately, C-Rod only saw action with special teams.
- Trevin Wallace led Carolina in tackles once again with seven against the Falcons. This was Wallace’s second-career start as the rebuilding Panthers turned the defensive keys over to their rookie middle linebacker.
- Landon Young showed off his versatility for the New Orleans Saints. Young usually played tackle, but moved to right guard where he started and played well. It isn’t his natural position, but he still finished with an above-average PFF grade of 66.2.
- For the Giants, Dru Phillips continues his strong play as a rookie. He led all of the BBNFL in PFF grades with a 74.5. His teammate, Wan’Dale Robinson continues to be a primary weapon for the G-Men, catching five of the eight balls thrown his way for 50 yards.
- As for Will Levis…oh boy. The man needs to catch a break soon. It’s been stumble after stumble this year as this performance resembles what his mayonaise-inspired cologne probably smells.
