Over the weekend, KSR looked ahead to the Brown Bears with an early preview of Tuesday night’s game when we weren’t watching a Kentucky game on Saturday. In the preview, you were warned about Brown senior guard Kino Lilly Jr., a First Team All-Ivy League selection and a historically great player for the Bears.

Now that the game is in front of us, let’s take a closer look at Lilly’s scouting report. He’s the guy who can’t get hot in Rupp Arena on Tuesday afternoon.

Brown’s all-time leader in 3-pointers

Lilly isn’t just Brown’s best shooter in 2024-25. Statistically, he is Brown’s best shooter ever. Lilly ranks first in Brown’s history books with 284 career 3s, one more than Kentucky’s all-time leader, Tony Delk, who hit 283 in his Wildcat career.

Brown’s third all-time leading scorer

Lilly has the third-most points in school history with 1,626 in his three-and-a-half years in the Bears’ backcourt. He is only 43 points shy of moving into second. Hopefully, that does not happen on Tuesday, or Kentucky has problems.

No. 3 nationally in 3-pointers per game this season

Lilly averages four 3-pointers per game so far this season, the third-highest average in college basketball. Shooting 42.7 percent from 3, his 40 triples on the year rank 10th nationally.

Top 20 in scoring average

Though he’s only 6’0”, Lilly is one of the best scorers in college basketball, ranking 17th in scoring at 20.0 points per game for Brown. He’s the shortest scorer in the top 25 by two inches.

Lilly scored 23 points in three of Brown’s last four games and scored 18+ in every game but one.

Game-winner vs. Bryant

On December 6, Brown was down two at Bryant with five seconds to go, when Lilly pulled up from 3 for the game-winner. The win was Brown’s fifth straight, part of the Bears’ best start in more than 20 years.

Third in minutes played

Lilly is also among the hardest workers in college basketball, playing the third-most minutes in the country at 37.4 points per game. Last season, Lilly played even more at 38.1 mpg.

He started in every game he’s played in for the last three seasons.

Two-time All-Ivy League

Lilly made the All-Ivy League First Team as a sophomore and a junior. He led the conference in scoring with 18.8 points a year ago, which earned him Preseason All-Ivy League honors heading into his senior year in 2024-25 as he seeks to three-peat.

Lamont Butler on Lilly:

“(He’s) a really good scorer, shoots a lot, makes a lot of 3s. The guys around him are really talented as well, getting to the rim and hitting shots, and they play well together.” [Butler previews Brown]
