Belfry's Isaac Dixon named 2021 Kentucky Mr. Football by coaches
After an 0-5 start to the 2021 season, Belfry leaned on its star running back all the way to a 3A state championship. As a result, Isaac Dixon has been named Kentucky Mr. Football by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association.
The news was announced on Wednesday by the KFCA, per the Courier-Journal. Dixon, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound senior running back, ran for 1,986 yards and 29 touchdowns on 196 carries while also catching three more scores for an additional 184 yards. He played both sides of the field, as well, recording 46 tackles and a team-high four interceptions, one being returned for a touchdown.
It was a tough field that Dixon had to beat out, too. His competition included UK commit Dane Key, who took home the 2021 Paul Hornung Award, and Virginia commit Xavier Brown, who was recently named Kentucky’s Gatorade Player of the Year.

Dixon is still uncommitted, but he did receive a preferred walk-on opportunity from Kentucky on Dec. 10. This came on the heels of his impressive run through the state tournament, where he was the bell cow of Belfry’s offense. Dixon powered the Pirates to a 9-1 record to close the season, winning five straight en route to a state championship. He rushed for 1,055 yards and 14 touchdowns over his final five outings, including 376 yards and five scores in the state title win over Paducah Tilghman.
He currently holds full scholarship offers from the likes of Pikeville and Charleston. Dixon was originally a high school senior last season but came back for another year as a result of one-time Kentucky rules instituted due to COVID-19.
