Minicamps across the National Football League are underway, and the buzz is already buzzing around Deone Walker. The Bills selected Kentucky's monstrous defensive lineman in the 4th round of the draft, and early into his career, he is drawing praise from an NFL veteran lineman. DaQuan Jones, who is entering his 12th year in the league and his 4th with Buffalo, had a lot of good things to say about the Wildcat rookie.

When asked about Walker, whom the reporter described as a "real big human," Jones said, "Walking up on him the first time I met him, his size is crazy. When you see him work, his work ethic, he goes out there and he grinds. Being that big and moving that quickly is a rare trait.

Jones then compared him to the Carolina Panthers' Derrick Brown, who is 6 feet 5 inches, 320 pounds, and widely regarded as one of the best interior linemen in the league.

He didn't stop there, though. Jones went on to say, "[Deone Walker] could be a very special player in this league once he understands how to be a pro, how to take care of his body, learns the tricks of the trade. I think he can be a really good player."

Bills fans impress Deone Walker at open practice

One of the things Walker is learning is how insane Buffalo Bills fans are. The Bills Mafia set a record with 39,224 people showing up for a practice, dubbed the Return of the Red and Blue. During the event, fans started the wave, which blew the mind of Deone Walker.

Walker said, "I can feel [the crowd] for sure. There were times I was looking up at the crowd, and they were doing the wave. I never saw that even in the SEC environment. They're on a way different level."

For the record, I'm totally fine with keeping the wave out of Kroger Field, but I get his point.

We may get a further peek behind the corner on Walker's introduction to the league (not to mention fellow Kentucky rookie Maxwell Hairston, who avoided a serious knee injury last week). The acclaimed HBO Docuseries, Hard Knocks, is following the Bills this preseason with the first episode set to air on Tuesday, August 6th.

With three former Wildcats, including do-it-all running back Ray Davis, HBO couldn't have picked a better team to feature for Kentucky fans. It will kick off what could be a huge season for Walker, Hairston, and Davis.
