Billy Richmond decommits from Kentucky, leaves one pledge for Cats

And then there was one.
John Calipari’s departure to Arkansas sparked a string of obvious announcements from signees and pledges backing away from their commitments to Kentucky. It started with Karter Knox, followed by Jayden Quaintance, Somto Cyril and Boogie Fland.
Now, it’s four-star wing Billy Richmond, who announced his decommitment from the Wildcats on Tuesday.
The Memphis native and Camden (N.J.) standout is the No. 24 overall prospect and No. 9 SF in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He first announced his commitment on Dec. 21, choosing Kentucky over Alabama, Memphis and LSU, among others.

His father, Billy Richmond Jr., played for Calipari at Memphis during the early 2000s.
Richmond’s departure leaves Travis Perry as the lone signee in Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class under Mark Pope, though the Wildcats did add four-star guard Collin Chandler — originally a member of the 2022 class, but listed as an incoming freshman after taking a two-year mission — early Tuesday morning.
Will the four-star wing follow Calipari to Fayetteville? The Razorbacks should be considered early favorites.
