There isn’t a more fitting return for sharpshooter Blair Green than winning the Kentucky Women’s Basketball 3-Point Contest during Friday’s Big Blue Madness event.

After a year of recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, Green is back. The fifth-year senior suffered the injury last October in a preseason scrimmage against Eastern Kentucky University. Green showed her gratitude to be back on the court after a year away from ball.

I’m just trying to take it all in and enjoy every moment,” Green said to KSR before Big Blue Madness.

Green made the most of her returning moment. The 6-foot-2 guard shot the lights out against teammates Maddie Scherr, Emma King and Robyn Benton in Kentucky WBB’s annual 3-point contest. Nonetheless, Green’s teammates didn’t make it easy for her.

In the first round, Green and Scherr tied for the high score, both scoring 14 of 30 possible points. The tie pushed the two Kentucky natives into the finals, pitted against one another. Unfortunately for Scherr, the moment belonged to Green.

Green dropped a team-high 16 of 30 potential points to take home the crown. Of course, the victory wasn’t complete without a griddy with her teammates.

Green deserves every bit of success. Her journey back to health wasn’t easy. Green was rehabbing nearly every day, even when she was supposed to take breaks.

“There were definitely moments in [the recovery] that were hard, but I’m a pretty driven person and every day I was trying to attack it,” Green said at Media Day last week. “I mean honestly I was probably trying to do more than I was supposed to do every day and they kind of had to pull me back a little bit. But, I’m like, ‘I just want to get back.'”

It’s safe to say Green is back. Despite the excitement of Big Blue Madness surrounding the program, Green can’t help but reflect on her time at UK coming to an end.

“It’s kind of sad,” Green said ahead of Madness.

Green seemingly forgot about her blues when she took to the court and, more importantly, the stage. Before catching fire from beyond the arc, Green displayed some electric dance moves on stage.
