Blair Green officially ends college career, Jada Walker transfers to Baylor
A pair of Wildcats have ended their Kentucky women’s basketball careers, but for vastly different reasons.
On Thursday, graduate student Blair Green announced through social media that her time playing for the ‘Cats has come to an end. The Harlan County native came to Lexington as a four-star recruit ahead of the 2018-19 season, spending five seasons in Lexington. Green sat out the entire 2021-22 season due to a torn Achilles but came back for a fifth year in 2022-23 as a grad student.
During her time with Kentucky WBB, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged career figures of 6.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per outing. Green’s best stretch came this past season when she put up 7.5 points and 2.4 rebounds in 28.1 minutes per outing while starting all 29 games she appeared in.
Green was long expected to leave following the conclusion of this past season, as she was one of three veterans that went through the Senior Day festivities. She joins Robyn Benton and Adebola Adeyeye as seniors also departing the program. Both Benton and Adeyeye have entered their names into the WNBA Draft. Green recently got engaged to Kentucky men’s basketball guard CJ Fredrick, who is also contemplating a decision to return for another season of college hoops or not.

A day later on Friday morning, sophomore point guard Jada Walker, who put her name into the transfer portal on March 8, announced on her Instagram that she has committed to the Baylor Bears. She was named to the All-SEC Freshman Team in 2021-22 for Kentucky by the league’s coaches and followed it up with an impressive second season. Walker put up averages of 12.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 31.2 minutes per game this past season as one of the Wildcats’ starting guards.
Walker will have two years of college eligibility left and is immediately able to play for Baylor this fall. Kentucky freshman guard Kennedy Cambridge is also in the transfer portal but has yet to make a decision on her next landing spot.
While Kentucky has seen a handful of Wildcats leave the program this offseason, Kentucky is working hard in the transfer portal to retool. Click the link here for an update on which players the coaching staff is targeting.
