White Team beats Blue 70-67 in Kentucky's scrimmage in Pikeville
The Kentucky Wildcats were short-handed tonight but still put on a good show in Pikeville. After 30 minutes of play (more on that in a second), the White Team beat the Blue Team 70-67 at the Appalachian Wireless Arena. Due to the limited number of players, the second half was shortened to ten minutes with a running clock.
Just like in the Bahamas, Antonio Reeves led all scorers with 27 points (8-19 FG, 5-12 3PT), followed by Adou Thiero with 21 points (8-16 FG, 1-4 3PT), 12 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. All five players on the White Team finished in double figures, led by CJ Fredrick with 18 points (7-11 FG, 4-5 3PT).
Three Wildcats out due to minor injuries
Oscar Tshiebwe, Sahvir Wheeler, and Lance Ware all sat out tonight’s game with minor injuries. Oscar recently had a minor knee procedure and told the broadcast he was ready to play, even running ten miles yesterday (!), but the doctor advised him to stay out two more weeks. Ware continues to recover from a pulled muscle in his back, while Wheeler banged his knee in practice yesterday diving for a ball but told the broadcast it is very minor and he was being held out as a precaution.
