John Calipari wants to inject energy back into Big Blue Madness. There’s only one man for the job, the man who brought the Kentucky basketball program back to life at this event 13 years ago, John Wall.

When reflecting on great Kentucky basketball memories from Big Blue Madness, this one stands above the rest. In 2009 “Ice Cream Paint Job” accompanied flexing from one of the most electric players to ever wear a Kentucky uniform. Tonight’s the perfect night to bring it back.

John Wall holds a special place in the heart of the BBN. This offseason we learned the former Wildcat has fallen on harder times than we ever could have imagined. A mountain of injuries piled up, he lost loved ones and fell deep into depression. In an open letter on The Players’ Tribune, he shared that he contemplated suicide before ultimately seeking help.

The 32-year-old pressed the reset button both mentally and physically to prepare for a comeback with the LA Clippers. If you connect the dots, it feels like a Big Blue Madness appearance is the final Infinity Stone for the John Wall Reboot Gauntlet.

First and foremost, his schedule is open. The Clippers played their final preseason game on Wednesday and do not begin regular season play until Oct. 20. Secondly, it feels like the Wildcats have left a trail of breadcrumbs. Not only did they share the original John Wall dance a few weeks back, they tasked the current players to perform the dance last week. Adou Thiero and Oscar Tshiebwe the produced a sweet moment when the the former showed the latter the ropes.

It would fire folks up to see a Drake or Lil Wayne at Rupp Arena, but there is not a hip-hop star that can bring everyone together quite like this former Wildcat. The stars appear to be aligning for John Wall to return to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness. We’ll find out if this bold prediction is correct tonight when the basketball action begins at 7 pm ET on the SEC Network.
