The Kentucky football offseason has had very few lulls. Next week, it will ramp back up for spring practice. Before the action begins over at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility, there was one other potential roster move involving Vince Marrow.

On Wednesday, FootballScoop reported that the longtime Kentucky associate head coach was a candidate for the Bowling Green head coaching vacancy. The MAC school in Northwest Ohio is in the middle of a delayed coaching search, thanks to Scot Loeffler’s abrupt departure for the NFL. With Marrow’s deep ties to the area, pursuing an opportunity to be a head coach made sense.

Kentucky Sports Radio has learned that he interviewed with Bowling Green on Monday, but the conversation stopped there. Marrow will remain at Kentucky.

The last Bowling Green head coach made $582,000. Marrow signed a contract extension in August 2024 that will pay him $1.3 million annually through 2027.

Vince Marrow has been on the Kentucky staff since 2013. The tight ends coach was one of the first hires made by Mark Stoops. Marrow has been a key part of Kentucky’s recruiting operation and plays a big role for this program in roster-building. One of the players he helped bring here this offseason was a former Bowling Green Falcon, Alex Wollschlaeger.

Mark Stoops’ right-hand man has been in the mix for many positions over the years to various degrees. Bowling Green is the second Group of Five school to interview him this offseason, following Southern Miss. There was also a time where Kentucky fans thought he could leave Lexington to join the coaching staff’s at Louisville and North Carolina.

It’s an unusual time for a coaching search. Fortunately, Kentucky will not be involved in one anytime soon.
