As long as Kentucky keeps winning, the Wildcats will keep climbing seed-lines. The latest bracketology from the founder of the pseudoscience, ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, currently projects Kentucky to be a No. 1 seed in the 2022 NCAA Tournament. My, how much things change in just one year.

In Lunardi’s Feb. 15 projection, the Wildcats join the Arizona Wildcats, Gonzaga and Auburn as No. 1 seeds. Kentucky is placed in the Philadelphia regional, with opening round games in Indianapolis. Even though it’s unlikely the selection committee would place a bad Indiana team in Indy, some fans across the region would be elated to see Kentucky matchup with the Hoosiers in the postseason. (That would require Indiana to make the cut on Selection Sunday, something that has not happened since 2016.)

Updated Bracketology

Lunardi’s current projection is on par with the entire field of bracketology. The current average among all prognosticators is a two-seed at No. 5 overall, according to the Bracket Matrix. Those projections will be thrown out the window this Saturday when the Selection Committee shares its current top 16 overall seeds. The Bracket Preview Show will air prior to tip-off between Kentucky and Alabama at 12:30 pm ET on CBS.

26 days till Selection Sunday.
