BREAKING: Coach K set to retire at Duke following 2021-22 season
Coach K’s time at Duke is officially coming to an end.
According to Stadium’s Jeff Goodman, Mike Krzyzewski has decided to retired following the 2021-22 college basketball season, with an official announcement expected in the near future.
Coach K’s anticipated replacement? Current Duke assistant and former player Jon Scheyer.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has confirmed the report, adding that Coach K is “finalizing a search process with university officials” to name Scheyer as the coach-in-waiting.

As @GoodmanHoops is reporting, Mike Krzyzewski plans to retire after the 2021-2022 season. Krzyzewski is finalizing a search process with university officials to name Duke's associate head coach Jon Scheyer as the coach-in-waiting, sources tell ESPN.

Krzyzewski has been the head coach at Duke since 1980, where he has led the Blue Devils to five NCAA titles, 12 Final Fours, 15 ACC Tournament championships and 12 ACC regular season titles. Only UCLA’s John Wooden has won more titles among men’s college basketball coaches, taking home 10 total over the course of his historic career.
Coach K also led the United States men’s national basketball team, leading the country to three gold medals at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympics, along with taking home gold medals at the FIBA World Cup in 2010 and 2014.
