BREAKING: Jalen Green bypasses college, will sign G League deal

Former Kentucky target Jalen Green is turning pro.
Ahead of Green's official announcement ceremony, ESPN's Jonathan Givony spoiled the news that the five-star senior will turn down his two college finalists - Memphis and Auburn - and sign with the NBA G League.

Green is considered a consensus top-three prospect in 2020, including No. 1 overall in the ESPN player rankings.
The G League approved new Select Contracts back in 2018 that would allow recruits to make $125,000 in a five-month season starting in 2019-20, though sources tell KSR that the updated number being thrown around with this current crop of talent is as high as $500,000 per season, including endorsements.
Aside from Green, five-star forward Isaiah Todd backed off of his commitment to Michigan this week and will explore his professional options, with a similar G League contract being a strong possibility. The league is also recruiting the likes of Makur Maker, Jalen Suggs, Greg Brown III, and Terrence Clarke, though the UK signee announced Wednesday morning he will not be taking the deal and will still head to Lexington later this year.
Kentucky was once seen as a top suitor for the 6-foot-5 guard out of Fresno, CA, though John Calipari and the UK staff backed off in the fall when it became apparent Clarke was a legitimate and likely option.
Now, Green will turn down Penny Hardaway and Bruce Pearl and begin his professional basketball career.
