by:Jack Pilgrim06/20/20
Xavier Peters is transferring from the Kentucky football program. A UK spokeswoman confirmed with Kentucky Sports Radio this evening that the former four-star recruit, who transferred to Kentucky from Florida State last May, has decided to transfer. According to a report by JUCO Football Ace, the pass-rusher will make a move to the junior college ranks, signing with Garden City Community College. https://twitter.com/jucofootballace/status/1274458945298595841?s=21 After being granted eligibility by the NCAA on Sept. 10, Peters saw action in three games this past year as a redshirt freshman, with his first action coming at South Carolina on Sept 28. He also played vs. Arkansas and at Vanderbilt, picking up his first tackle at UK against the Commodores. Prior to his time at Kentucky, Peters saw action in two games in his freshman season at Florida State. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound linebacker made his collegiate debut in a 38-17 win vs. Wake Forest, recording one solo tackle and one pass breakup. He also saw late action vs. No. 2 Clemson. A consensus four-star prospect out of high school, Peters was listed as the No. 5 overall prospect in Ohio and the No. 15 outside linebacker in the country by 247Sports. Over at Rivals, the now-former Wildcat was also ranked fifth in the state, sixth at his position, and 75th nationally. The West Chester, OH native was named an Under Armour All-American as a senior out of Lakota West High School. After a back-and-forth recruitment, along with numerous transfer rumblings during his time as a Seminole and as a Wildcat, Peters will look for a fresh start at Garden City before making a jump back to the Division I ranks in 2021.
