Brian Harman was a 100-to-1 longshot to win the 151st Open Championship. Those tickets could be cashed on Sunday afternoon.

The 36-year-old lefty has fired a 67-65-69 to give himself three consecutive rounds under par 71 at Royal Liverpool. On moving day, the Georgia alum who struggles to create distance off the tee kept his five-shot lead from round two and is one round of golf away from hoisting the Claret Jug.

I’m not sure anyone saw this coming.

Despite two bogeys in the first four holes, Harman bounced back to go four-under over the final 14 holes with birdies at No. 5, No. 9, No. 12, and No. 13. The man with two career PGA Tour victories and only two top-10 finishes in 29 major championship starts (13 missed cuts) is in the driver’s seat heading into Sunday.

Jon Rahm came out of nowhere on Saturday to fire an eight-under 63 and could be a man to watch on Sunday. Meanwhile, Viktor Hovland and Cameron shot each logged five-under 66s when their cards were turned in. The tournament is not over yet, but Harman has a significant lead going into the back stretch.

We’ll find out if we will get another unlikely major championship winner when things get kicked off very early in the morning. The final group will hit the tee box just after 9:00 a.m. ET. Get that coffee ready with coverage beginning on USA at 5:00 a.m. ET before shifting to NBC at 7:00 a.m. ET.
