Four-star EDGE Brian Robinson has a message for Big Blue Nation. Announcing his commitment to the University of Kentucky on KSR early Tuesday morning, the top-200 prospect got choked up thinking about what it means to be a Wildcat and begin this new chapter of his life in Lexington.

And when he gets there, Robinson wants fans to know he won’t let you down on or off of the football field.

“First, I want to thank God because without him, none of this would be possible. I want to thank my family, my father, my coaches, my trainers, my nutritionists, my doctors, everybody who has been a part of my journey. I’ll be committing to the University of Kentucky,” Robinson said. ”… I want to thank the Kentucky fans for being a supporting cast throughout my journey. I want to let you all know I won’t let you down on or off the field and I can’t wait to play for y’all, win with you all.”

The 6-foot-5, 228-pound pass-rusher is rated as one of the ten best players at his position and the No. 131 overall prospect in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He becomes just the third top 150 defensive player to commit to Mark Stoops at Kentucky.

Robinson wants to contribute to winning

Why did he choose the Wildcats over the likes of Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Georgia, among others?

“I chose Kentucky because I felt that it was the best fit for me when it came to the people, the program and its values,” Robinson said.

The Youngstown native also leaned heavily on Vince Marrow throughout the recruiting process, a key factor in his decision to ultimately commit to Kentucky. There’s a family relationship there he valued.

“He’s like my uncle. Him and my dad are childhood friends, so it’s a great experience,” Robinson added. “He’s just him, he’s real. He doesn’t change. ‘What’s up, big dawg?!’ That’s his favorite line [laughs].”

The four-star, top-150 prospect is versatile and comfortable playing multiple positions. And he’s still growing, so the sky is the limit on what his role will be in Lexington.

Whatever Mark Stoops needs, he’s ready to put in the work and contribute to winning.

“They see me as a Jack back, they say I still have room to grow,” Robinson said. ”My body is still producing, so I can play three-tech, can go inside, wherever he needs me.”
