We will not have to wait long to know if Brock Vandagriff is the next man up at the University of Kentucky. The former Georgia quarterback is expected to make a decision soon.

Vandagriff, a five-star talent ranked as the No. 22 overall player in the 2021 recruiting class, entered the transfer portal on Monday. His father, Greg, shared with Steve Wiltfong that it will not be a long, drawn out recruiting process for his son.

If it’s not done this weekend, it will be done next weekend,” the elder Vandagriff said of a decision. “He will probably commit and then go visit.”

Greg Vandagriff, who also coached his son at Prince Avenue Christian School, said that his son’s interest in Kentucky is “real” and also noted that South Carolina and Mississippi State have reached out.

“There’s South Carolina, Mississippi State, (Jeff) Lebby is intriguing. It would be hard to go outside of the SEC just because it’s the best conference. It also forces you to play the best. It’s not like you’re going up against the 60th, 70th ranked defensive in the country every week. You’re going against the Top 25.”

Kentucky appears to be the team to beat. That is one reason why I have placed an On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) pick for the Cats to land the talented quarterback from the transfer portal.

Vandagriff grew up in Bogart, Georgia, just a 20-minute drive from Sanford Stadium. He is graduating from the University of Georgia after spending three years on campus.

The highly sought after recruit sat behind Stetson Bennett during two National Championship campaigns. He lost the quarterback competition to Carson Beck, who will likely return to school next fall, rather than enter the NFL Draft. While backing up Beck this fall he appeared in seven games and threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Kentucky fans got to see him late in the loss between the hedges when the quarterback completed 5-of-7 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown on fourth down.
