Brock Vandagriff ranks last in QBR among SEC quarterbacks
The first two weeks of the 2024 season haven’t quite gone the way Brock Vandagriff and Kentucky fans may have expected.
The Georgia transfer completed just three of 10 passes for 30 yards in Kentucky’s 31-6 loss to South Carolina on September 7. His 30 passing yards were the least amount by a Wildcat quarterback in a game since Terry Wilson threw for just 38 yards in Kentucky’s 20-10 loss to Missouri on October 24, 2020.
Among the 16 qualified quarterbacks in the Southeastern Conference, Vandagriff ranks dead last in the league with a QBR of 18.4. To qualify, a player must play a minimum of 20 action plays per team game. The full list can be seen below:
- QB Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) 93.5 QBR
- QB Carson Beck (Georgia) 89.7 QBR
- QB Garrett Nussmeier (LSU) 86.7 QBR
- QB Quinn Ewers (Texas) 84.2 QBR
- QB DJ Lagway (Florida) 82.7 QBR
- QB Blake Shapen (Mississippi State) 80.5 QBR
- QB Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee) 79.1 QBR
- QB Diego Pavia (Vanderbilt) 78.6 QBR
- QB Brady Cook (Missouri) 72.7 QBR
- QB Jalen Milroe (Alabama) 70.6 QBR
- QB Taylen Green (Arkansas) 69.0 QBR
- QB Payton Thorne (Auburn) 48.4 QBR
- QB Conner Weigman (Texas A&M) 38.8 QBR
- QB Jackson Arnold (Oklahoma) 38.5 QBR
- QB LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina) 30.3 QBR
- QB Brock Vandagriff (Kentucky) 18.4 QBR
Vandagriff’s lowly QBR of 18.4 ranks 127th in the country out of 135 qualified quarterbacks. It’s hard to pin all of the blame on the Bogart, GA native however, as Kentucky ranks No. 261 in the country with a pass-blocking efficiency of 75%. Kentucky quarterbacks have been sacked five times, which ranks No. 100 in the FBS.

He however is excited to bounce back and face his former team, the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs, this Saturday at Kroger Field.
“I think me being how I am and how I feel, this offense’s identity is welcoming the challenge,” Vandagriff said on Wednesday. “I obviously wish the outcome was a bit different on Saturday but at the end of the day, we’re going to have our 12 games. 12 guarantees to go out there and play on Saturday’s. Whoever that is we’re going to be ready.”
