Bruce Pearl ups the ante with Calipari

by:MosKnows08/05/09
penelope In a shocking twist to Coach Calipari's recent comments on playing three point guards simultaneously, Bruce Pearl has responded that in the upcoming year, he will utilize seven, count 'em, seven point guards on the floor at the same time: "We just figure that here at UT we're going to be innovative--much more innovative than the guy in Lexington. I think having seven point guards on the floor at the same time will allow us to play faster than other teams and will create matchups problems, particularly when their five guys have to guard our seven. It doesn't actually say in the rulebook that you're limited to playing five guys at a time, so we've decided to exploit this loophole to our advantage****. It should be pretty interesting watching Patrick Patterson trying to guard both Bobby Maze and whoever else we have that's a point guard at the same time. Your move, Calipari." ****Note: It actually does forbid having more than five players on the floor in the NCAA rulebook. Link
