Bruiser Flint reportedly interviewing for Fordham HC job
John Calipari could be looking to fill a hole in his staff for the upcoming season.
According to Adam Zagoria of ZAGSBLOG, Kentucky Men’s Basketball associate head coach, Bruiser Flint, is interviewing for the Fordham head coaching job. Fordham’s previous head coach, Kyle Neptune, recently accepted the same position with Villanova following the surprise announcement of Jay Wright’s retirement. Along with Flint, Providence assistant Ivan Thomas, Rutgers associate head coach Brandin Knight, and Bryant head coach Jared Grasso are interviewing for the Fordham gig.
Zagoria also reports that a decision is expected “in the next day or so” with an official announcement set for Tuesday. Fordham has not posted a winning season since going 17-14 in 2015-16.
Not long after his initial tweet, Zagoria reported that Grasso is expected to stay at Bryant, leaving three options: Flint, Thomas, and Knight.

Flint has been close friends with Calipari for decades now, dating back to their days at UMass. Flint was an assistant under Calipari with the Minutemen for seven seasons (1989-96) before eventually taking over as the head coach when Calipari left for the NBA. Flint and Calipari would link up again ahead of the 2020-21 season where he would take on the title of associate to the head coach for the ‘Cats.
A 56-year-old Philadelphia, PA native and graduate of Saint Joseph’s, Flint began his coaching career as an assistant at Coppin State in 1987. He then went on to a 15-year head coaching stop with Drexel (2001-16) before a three-year stint as an assistant at Indiana (2017-2020).
It doesn’t sound like we’ll have to wait much longer to see how this one pans out.
