BTI's Rants and Ramblings: Askew's Transfer a Rarity in Modern UK History

Devin Askew will walk away from Kentucky holding very few records.  He tried his best and I feel like he was done a disservice by Calipari to put him in a position, with too many minutes, to look bad.  But he will transfer from Kentucky holding the most minutes per game in the season leading up to his transfer.  You can't say that Askew didn't get his chance.  Cam'Ron Fletcher, on the other hand, ranking near the bottom of Calipari transfers in minutes per game, although there were obvious other issues at hand there. So, under Cal, there have been a total of 13 transfers from the program.  And of that 13, a total of four players played at least 20 minutes in the season leading up to the transfer:

Under Calipari

Devin Askew (2021): 28.9 minutes per game Ryan Harrow (2013): 27.1 minutes per game Kyle Wiltjer (2013): 23.7 minutes per game Marcus Lee (2016): 21.8 minutes per game Quade Green (2019): 17.8 minutes per game Darnell Dodson (2010): 14.4 minutes per game Sacha Killeya-Jones (2018): 13.7 minutes per game Johnny Juzang (2020): 12.4 minutes per game Charles Matthews (2016): 10.2 minutes per game Jemarl Baker (2019): 9.1 minutes per game Cam'Ron Fletcher (2021): 6.7 minutes per game Tai Wynyard (2018): 5.3 minutes per game Stacey Poole (2011): 2.8 minutes per game

Compare that to the 20 seasons before Calipari arrived and you only had 4 instances there where a player transferred after a 20+ minutes per game season:

Transfers over 20 minutes (post-1990)

Derrick Jasper (2008): 29.4 minutes per game Rod Rhodes (1995): 27.3 minutes per game Desmond Allison (2000): 25.8 minutes per game Michael Bradley (1999): 21.9 minutes per game
