The NFC South franchise finished that season 10-6 winning a playoff game in the wild card round before falling to the Philadelphia Eagles. Atlanta’s offense averaged 22.1 points per game finishing No. 15 in the NFL in scoring offense. Julio Jones finished the season with 1,444 receiving yards earning All-Pro honors.

Hamdan left the Falcons staff after one year to become the offensive coordinator at Washington in 2018. Steve Sarkisian returned to college football in 2019 to become the offensive coordinator at Alabama. The two will be on opposing sidelines for the first time on Saturday afternoon at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
The other relationship is a longer one.
Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski worked at Boise State from 2006-13 under Dan Hawkins and Chris Petersen. Kwiatkowski then followed Petersen to Washington where he was on staff from 2014-20. Hamdan was a player when Kwiatkowski was a position coach at Boise State. The two Boise State alums then spent four years working on the same staff at Washington in the Pac-12. Now they will face each other in a head-to-head matchup as Kwiatkowski is now in year four as the defensive coordinator at Texas.
Bush Hamdan will face multiple former colleagues in Kentucky’s Week 13 matchup in Austin.
