6-foot-5 in-state center, Ramiya White, has officially signed her National Letter of Intent with Kentucky women’s basketball.
White put pen to paper on Friday afternoon at Butler Traditional High School as she now turns her focus toward the upcoming 2023-24 season. The Louisville, KY product initially committed to Kyra Elzy and the Wildcats back in August, choosing UK over offers from schools such as Mississippi State, Clemson, Syracuse, Kansas State, Florida State, and plenty more. After picking up an offer from the ‘Cats back in Nov. 2021, an official visit to Kentucky this past June sealed the deal.
“Our program is overjoyed that Ramiya White is a Wildcat,” Elzy said in UK’s press release. “She is a force to be reckoned with on the boards, which is a huge asset for our program, while she also is a solid shot blocker.
“For a post player, she can run the floor well, too, while her mobility is impressive for her length and size. Off the court, White is an impressive young lady who will bring a drive and a focus to our locker room. She also exudes a passion for the state of Kentucky, so I am eager for Big Blue Nation to get to see the Bluegrass product on the court next fall.”

White is the lone class of 2024 commit for Kentucky so far. She enters her senior season as one of the leading candidates to win Miss Kentucky Basketball.
During her junior season at Butler, White averaged 8.6 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting over 51 percent from the field across 24 games played. The Bearettes finished with a 13-13 record before falling to Mercy (where White previously attended before transferring after her freshman season) in the 6th Region Tournament, but return the majority of their roster going into ’23-24 in addition to bringing in a high-level transfer. Butler is projected to win the 6th Region this season by Rise Up Sports Media.
Playing on the Adidas 3SSB circuit with United Family (17U) over the spring and summer, White established herself as one of the best post recruits in the nation. She actually goes by the nickname “Baby Shaq” — and would be the tallest player on the current Kentucky roster. White will bring some much-needed size and physicality to Elzy’s program.
