Jaxson Robinson isn’t in the transfer portal at this moment, but he’s a name that the Big Blue Nation should familiarize themselves with sooner rather than later.

According to KSR’s Jack Pilgrim and Matt Jones, Robinson, who played at BYU the last two seasons under new Kentucky head coach Mark Pope, is already being named as a possible addition to the Wildcats’ 2024-25 roster. Pope was officially named UK’s coach on Friday morning after spending the previous five years at BYU.

Clocking in as a 6-foot-7 guard, Robinson was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year in 2023-24 for BYU after averaging a team-high 14.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 26.4 minutes per outing. He shot 42.6 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from deep (6.9 attempts per game), and 90.8 percent from the free throw line.

Robinson started his college career at Texas A&M in 2020-21 but saw limited playing time for the Aggies. He averaged just 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 9.8 minutes per game as a freshman across 14 appearances. The native of Oklahoma then transferred to Arkansas the following season, although his stats remained mostly the same: 3.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game across 16 appearances.

But Robinson would finally find a home in Provo, UT with BYU starting in 2022-23. He was actually a full-time starter in his first season with the Cougars, averaging 8.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 28.1 minutes per outing. He even started 30 of 33 games played. Robinson elevated his game to another level in 2023-24 though, the first season in the Big 12 for BYU.

Not only was Robinson named Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year this past season, but he was also tabbed as an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention. It was a career year for the former four-star recruit, who even played his way into being a possible NBA Draft pick.

After BYU was knocked out of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, Robinson talked highly of his relationship with Pope.

“I mean, Coach Pope has been a great coach. He’s helped me so much and mentored me,” Robinson told KSL Sports last month. “I couldn’t be here without him. He took a chance on me, and I’m forever in debt for that.”

Immediately after that comment, Pope said he’d love to have Robinson, who has one year of eligibility remaining, back at BYU for another season. Will that year end up being spent in Lexington?
