The news that Marcus Lee is headed to Cal broke over the weekend, but the program made it official this afternoon in a press release with quotes from head coach Cuonzo Martin. “We're very excited to have Marcus Lee be a part of our basketball family,” Martin said. “Marcus brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. He's contributed and won at a high level in high school as well as in college.” “He's a high-motor guy with tremendous attributes on both ends of the floor,” Martin added. “He's one of the best athletes in all of college basketball and he's committed to being successful on and off the court.” Lee averaged 6.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game during his three years at Kentucky. After going through the NBA Draft evaluation process, he withdrew his name and announced he was leaving the program. After sitting out one year, he'll have one year of eligibility remaining. Best of luck, Marcus. [Calbears.com]
