EDGE is a position of need for Kentucky this offseason. The Wildcats must go find at least one transfer to come play snaps for defensive coordinator Brad White in the 2025 season. Depth in the outside linebacker room is quickly getting decimated.

J.J. Weaver is out of eligibility and Kentucky lost a third scholarship player at that position to the transfer portal on Monday. Class of 2024 signee Caleb Redd joined Tyreese Fearbry and Noah Matthews as college football free agents on Monday. The Wildcats have lost the young player to the portal, KSR has learned.

Kentucky is now down to three scholarship linebacker at EDGE with Steven Soles Jr., Jacob Smith, and Cedric Works Jr. all in the room. No one among that group has been in college for more than a year. The Wildcats will likely be shopping for experience in the free agent market.

Caleb Redd played 12 defensive snaps for Kentucky this season and appeared in only two games. The former three-star recruit out of St. Louis (Mo.) DeSmet has four years of eligibility remaining. Redd picked Kentucky over Kansas State and USC during the recruiting process. The EDGE prospect recorded 27 sacks over his last two seasons of high school football.
