Caleb Wilson cancels official visit to Arkansas for a second (and final) time
Well, Caleb Wilson thought he was going to Arkansas this weekend, just like he thought he was going to visit Fayetteville the first weekend of November. That trip got postponed due to travel logistics — the five-star forward was set to arrive when the Razorbacks were playing an exhibition game against TCU in Fort Worth, TX — and now, the follow-up visit has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
On3’s Jamie Shaw was the first to break the news of Wilson’s canceled visit on Thursday.
In a sit-down interview with KSR on Tuesday, Wilson said the trip to Fayetteville was still planned, wanting to hear John Calipari’s pitch despite the fact he ‘never considered or thought about Arkansas’ before the coaching change this offseason.
“I’m not really not in-tune with the school or anything like that,” he told KSR. “I never thought I would even be interested in Arkansas. It’s just like, I never knew anything about them. I never knew they were even in the SEC until a year ago.”
“Coach Cal is a great coach, a historically great coach. You definitely have to give him a look,” Wilson said. “He just got a commitment from Meleek (Thomas), so he’s bringing in another one of those classes where he has a bunch of elite players. I’m interested to see how he feels about the players he has now with those two players coming in because it can be overwhelming, especially at the guard position with the guards he has now and the guards he has coming in. I’m interested in talking about it. He’s talked to me about trying to make sure I’m the focal point of his offense, like a creator. I feel like that would be a good role for me.”

Clearly he wasn’t that interested in hearing the pitch in person with the visit now off for a second and final time. Probably safe to cross the Razorbacks off the list of contenders for the top-five prospect.
Kentucky is trending as the favorite to land his commitment, which Wilson says is likely to come in “December or January” — though he didn’t totally rule out a decision to close out the early signing period.
At minimum, a final list cut is on the horizon, potentially in the coming days.
